Applications in for Fiji 'interim posts'
December 10, 2006
Applications for ministerial positions for the caretaker government are progressing well, says military spokesman Major Neumi Leweni.
Major Leweni said the military had received written applications but he was not sure of the total number of applications.
"It has been progressing really well and we are going to place the advertisement in Saturday's paper so we will be able to inform you more of what we have received soon," he said.
On Thursday, military commander Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama confirmed the application for ministerial posts.
"The advertisement for positions in the caretaker government will be in the print media," said Major Leweni.
"Having said that, we have already received written applications and we are receiving a lot more phone calls from people offering their services to be part of the caretaker government," he said.
Commodore Bainimarama had appealed to people who have the welfare of the nation at heart to come forward and be part of the rebuilding process.
The advertisement published in The Fiji Times today states:
"the acting President of the Republic of Fiji Islands and the Commander of the Fiji Military Forces, Voreqe Bainimarama holding all executive authority wishes to advise the public on the need to form an interim Government to run the affairs of our beloved country.
"The President further wishes to emphasis the need to run such affairs with the aim of ridding Fiji from corruption and bad practices and to provide good governance.
"The President also reiterates the dire need to maintain the well being of our beloved country and its citizens."
"Applications are sought from qualified members of the public for the positions of cabinet ministers in the interim Government.
"Also applicants must be of outstanding character and without any criminal record and each must not have been declared bankrupt.
"Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years working experience and or high level of tertiary education. Applicants must indicate the area of interest in which he or she would like to serve in.
"All applicants will be vetted for authenticity and must be accompanied by detailed curriculum vitae with full contact details no later than 1600 hours on Tuesday, December 12, 2006," it stated.
It stated that all applications were to be addressed under confidential cover to Commodore Bainimarama.
On Sunday, speaking on Fiji TV's Fijian program, Viti Ni Kua, Commodore Bainimarama said he had wanted ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and his government to resign because they were not doing a good job.
He said he would not lead the interim government but people could apply to take up the positions of prime minister and ministers.
P/S:
Akhirnya, kerajaan tentera yg berkuasa sekarang sampai mengiklankan siapa nak jadi menteri kabinet..Sampai begitu sekali akibat kurang pelajaran dan kerajaan dahulu tak jaga betul-betul kaum pribumi..
